Even though you're at work you can still salute his memory. Just go tell a white person, "We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us!" Then, walk away...
I had a copy of the Q'uran bound in black leather and presented it to my beloved Marvin (God rest his soul, and Brother Malcolm's, too)for his 45th birthday. He cried like a child the day he unwrapped it. I guess no one had ever done anything like that to make him feel loved and wanted. He cherished that book like it was precious gold.
He used to read from it to me, but I wasn't really interested in ANY religion at the time (not even Christianity)and right today, I have the copy that I gave him in a box of his leftover things in my closet. I pulled out the box, opened the book, and found a photograph of me and Marvin taken together (I can't remember who took the picture)inside it. I cried like a baby. Brother Malcolm was a hero to my beloved Marvin.
thanks for the reminder.. I should go dust off my copy of his autobiography and pop in the DVD.. and you should do what Dynasty said.. that would truly be a special moment. lol

@RD
I'm still looking for a vacation recap. Or are you trying to keep the details away from jealous bloggers in love with you from afar?
@Dynasty
I literally laughed out loud when I read your comment. That's some rare shit for a sourpuss like myself.
I think I'll do that!

@CG
I read it at least once a year to keep that fire burning. You're right, you always read something new in there.
@Mack
This is no lie: I cry each and every time I see that scene to this day. And I was all of 21 when it came out.
I can't believe I don't own the DVD.

Thanks for the reminder, cause you know no one else will remind us.

I think I just won't work for the rest of the day in his honor, and blog quietly at my desk!

brother malcolm is truly missed.
Sometimes I wonder why Malcolm didn't get the official holiday.
I guess whites were too shook of his "By Any Means...." approach.
R.I.P. Malcolm
