The One Book MeMe

1. ONE BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

Books continue to change my life. If I were to pick one, it would be The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

2. ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MORE THAN ONCE?

There are a few including Malcolm X. The yearly read is Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.

3. ONE BOOK YOU WOULD WANT ON A DESERT ISLAND?

1001 Ways to Prepare Sand. That or Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

4. ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU LAUGH?

Aside from the one I'm writing (which, by the way, is hilarious), that would have to be...

5. ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?

The one my ex-girlfriend hit me in the balls with.

6. ONE BOOK YOU WISH YOU HAD WRITTEN?

The White Boy Shuffle by Paul Beatty. He makes me ashamed to consider myself a writer.

7. ONE BOOK YOU WISH HAD NEVER BEEN WRITTEN?

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It spawned more ultra-conservative idiots than the law allows.

8. ONE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING?

I'm reading several simultaneously, which makes it hard to finish even the shorter ones. But since you've asked for one, I'll say Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman, which I've been reading for about 2 months now.

9. ONE BOOK YOU HAVE BEEN MEANING TO READ?

This Is Your Brain On Music

I feel so uncultured. I haven't heard of, let alone, read any of the books you mentioned.

the ayn rand folks would have made good republicans if they weren't so damn extreme.

i mean i don't see what's the big deal about a free market anyway.

but this isn't about me, this is about your and your book choices and since both you and Miz JJ have done this MEME i think i will too!

Damn! What did you do to deserve a book to the balls???

@Chez
She was insane! Trust me!

@Newy
The last time you were on I slipped, now it's your fault. We gotta get this together!

@Aqua
I have Tuff on my shelf, but I won't read it. I think it would discourage me from finishing my magnum opus.

@ON
You had to read Malcolm X? If not, read it!!! Everything else is "ehh".

@Miss Ahmad
I can't wait to read yours. You be readin' some shit.

@Dynasty
I don't think it was me, so much as it was her. This is the same ex that hit me in the head with a golf club.

Ok I'm supposed to do this but I am almost ashamed of my non-intellectual reading as of late. I'll do it this week though

Hope you had a great weekend...oh and BTW my birthday is exactly one week from today :-) Just in case you need to mark your calendar so you'll know when to call and sing to me *big azz smile*

Knockout Zed said...

@RD
Exactly one week? I got it! I'll practice my Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" for you.

Incidently, one of my friends has a birthday TODAY and for the past five years it's been horrible. What type of callous ass is a person being perceived as if they're out celebrating on Sept. 11?

lol..Yeah Cocoa. X and Corp. America don't MIX! I've read the book WHILE I was at work, and that wasn't a good idea.

Zed, thanks for reminding me that my friend's birthday is today! I'm not even going to tell you what her name is. I think she's cursed.

Interesting collection of books.

well wait until you get that masaterpeice out of you then. i got tagged to do this by another blogger. i posted mine over the weekend.

aquababie said...

catch 22...i read that as a high schooler and realized i should be very afraid of the world.

lol@5. didn't you cry when you read 'sounder'? i know you did.

Knockout Zed said...

@Aqua
That new pic looks like you puttin' the "girls" on the market. That's a good thing. I gotta check out what you wrote.

@Nikki
I've NEVER READ SOUNDER!!! I can't think of a book that's made me cry. Songs, movies, car doors, golf clubs, and my parents. But no books.

I have Misquoting Jesus on my to read list. I read an article by him on Salon.com, but I still have not gotten around to reading it.

Still laughing at #5.

What's the name of that book you propped me up on when we were...

Knockout Zed said...

@Nsane
Antoine Fisher wrote a book too?

How's Big D treatin' ya? Also, how's Dallas? LOL

@Miz JJ
It's a very well written, scholarly book. It should be a must read for theologians.

@Blah
That book was called Noblesse Oblige, and I haven't even finished writing it yet.

I don't remember the last time I read a book, just to read. Yo, when you get a chance, check out my spot. You are a guest star in my post. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get there.
