Nothing Like It

What's crackin' folks? I hope you had a good weekend, I certainly did. I was in the Chi this weekend trying to stay out of the way of all the earnest looking white people who apparently were on their way somewhere. I spent some time looking at dinosaur bones at the Fi.eld M.useum and looking at fish and whatnot at Sh.edd A.quarium on the world's foggiest day. You couldn't even see fuckin' Lake Michigan, which I thought was virtually impossible at such a close distance. When I left on Sunday, the weather was perfect. Beautiful.

Do you think people in Miami get excited about a 68 degree day in March? What about in Charlotte? Or Phoenix? I'm willing to venture that they don't. In Michigan, this is great shit. In the D in specific, if your ass is lucky enough to see an above 60 day in March, you will see African setting up grills on the sidewalk, Dubs driving around with convertable tops down, sporting Hawaiian shirts and zinc on their noses. Muthafuckas here lose their minds when it's "warm" or at least "not cold".

That's my primary argument for not living in a moderate climate. There is no joy like the joy when the weather finally breaks. Months upon months of absolute desolation and then, BAM, warmth. The smallest modicum of good weather and your whole entire outlook changes. We smile at one another. We're better to one another. Our lives have meaning again. Your mate is more attractive, you job doesn't suck so much, the boil on your ass is less painful. Everything's better when it gets hotter, that's why consistent warm weather is actually more miserable than snowbelt living. At least that's the argument I'll make as it warms up here.

Peace,
KZ

HAHA... It was 90 degrees here in Charlotte this weekend. I'm from North Cal so, I still freak out when it gets above 80 or below 50.

Moderation is some benefits

Its 45 today in NY and it will be a balmy 72 tomorrow, hot damn! but to hell with that - I'll take a miserable consistent 80 degrees in Miami or Barbados everyday than this cold shit for 6-7 months in NY. Happy Monday.

@Sherri
I don't know. You really appreciate an 80 degree day after you've been through months of bone chilling cold.

@Angie
Bet! See that's what I'm talking about! Enjoy this heat, little snowbird.

@OSB (yes, you're still OSB to me!)
You'll really appreciate that 72 tomorrow because of that 45 today. And that makes all the difference.

@Paula D
My parents live in Tampa. They were born and raised in Tampa. They lived in Detroit for over 30 years. Every winter they fondly reminisce (sp?) about the snow and cold. That'll be you if you move back after being away for awhile. Consistency is boring.

its been beautiful here in Greensboro!!! I had to go get a pedicure real quick this weekend, and pull out the sandals...

I feel ya tho! this doesn't feel right. I should be in a smaller winter jacket rather than no coat at all.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that, luv. You might end up believing it. LOL Happy Monday!

I use to live in a moderate city, but now I live in the belly of the beast. It is crazy what a little bit of warm weather will do to people. Last week we had some warm weather and I was seeing pasty legs everywhere I turned. Those legs need a little more time in the oven before they are exposed to God and the world. Damn.

well if cold weather sprinkled with a little bit of sunshine makes you happy you probably couldn't stand all the smiles and happy people her in LA enjoying nice weather most of the year 'round.

we live here so that we can feel good about life year 'round so you're saying you like michigan because sometimes you don't need to smile?

it was 80 or so all weekend. as part of the yoga workshop i attended over the weekend, we did saturday evening's class outside. it was absolutely fabulous!

cold weather and snow are the main reasons why i would never live in the north. i don't like being cold!

I agree with your logic. That's why I'll always live in a 4 season climate.
Bitchin about the cold makes you appreciate the hot
Bitchin about the hot makes you appreciate the cold.

And Spring and Fall are perfect

You gotta be careful. That toe power is fierce.

@BZ
It works. For real!

@Miz JJ
Yeah, people are wearing shorts and beaters here somethin' serious. It's only 72! Tanning salons should be in full effect.

@Miss Ahmad
People who live in warm weather are artificially well adjusted. Give 'em six months of unbearable powdery hell and see how that sunny disposition shit works.

@Aqua
No one likes being cold, but don't you think experiencing winter's wrath we appreciate the warm just a little bit more?

@OneFrom
Hell yes! My sentiments exactly. I'll venture to say, from a fashion perspective, I like fall more.

@Chele
You like that? I keep learning lessons from all sorts of books.

In Boston, we have four seasons:
Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Road Repair, LOL!

We had a snowstorm this weekend, but on Sunday, it went up to 50 degrees! I got allergies, chills, back ache, night sweats and acne!

...but I sported my cute red skirt and lace blouse yesterday, though. No toes yet, but definitely some knees! LOL

You all happy about the weather... Sure sign that you are in love.

zed, what do you think about the correlation between higher (hotter) temperatures and higher murder rates?
