Rollin' Thru

I been in a weird musical place for a few days. I just bought the new John Legend CD, though I haven't opened it yet. And I've been listening to the first BDP album, Criminal Minded as well as the only Anttex album, Suburban Etiquette. I don't know what the fuck is going on in my head. So anyway...

Last Friday was a doozy, my African. I didn't write about it because I was still steaming about it when I posted. I told y'all about my issue with union here. I had a meeting with the union president and the grievance officer on Friday. They insisted that their member didn't call the resident an "idiot" but instead said his actions were "idiotic". I started in on the G.O.

KZ: The resident heard himself being called an idiot. It was at the very least a poor choice of words.
GO: I don't think it was a bad choice of words. The resident was doing some idiotic stuff.
KZ: The root word of "idiotic" is "idiot". He felt like he was being called an idiot. I think rightfully so.
GO: Just because someone is being called idiotic doesn't mean he's being called an idiot.
KZ: How about I just call your line of reasoning asinine? Do you feel like I'm calling you an ass?
GO: (quietly) I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.
KZ: So now we're agreeing on things. See, that's progress.

That muthafucka was heated the rest of the meeting and so was I. Don't play semantics with me. I'm the master of that shit.

I went to the movies (again) this weekend and saw Bo.rat. I can honestly say I've never laughed so hard at a movie in my life. It will make you uncomfortable as all get out in many places. You wonder about the sanity, level of committment and balls to do most of the shit that you see on screen. I went to the movies TWICE all of 2005. I've been five times that this year. That, my friends, is telltale.

Be Focused,
KZ

Your always playing that semantics shit...I hate when your right...it's only hlaf of the time that you are...but I hate it all the same. HA!

Glad you had such a fun filled weekend. Things are looking up for you my friend...umm, by the way...no grilled cheese? HA!

@Blah

Grilled Cheese? Why must you torture me?

I love the movies too. One of my favorite pass times.

I would have paid to see his face when you aked if he thought you were calling him an ass. Hilarious!

Will that issue ever be over? How many more times do you and ole dude have to revisit the idiot comment?

@TS
The movies, ehh.

He had a classic assed befuddled look on his face. Like "I can't believe this muthafucka just called me an ass!" Just the reaction I was looking for.

The meeting on Friday was for the union to grieve the punishment given out for the "idiot" comment. It should be over now. The punishment stands.

I like the new John Legend CD. I thought it would suck based on his first single, which sounds like elevator music to me. It is definitely one of the weakest songs on the CD. The rest is good.

Lol @ calling buddy asinine. His job is to not admit he's wrong. That job sounds like it sucks.

I can't wait to see Borat.

Borat looks like pure comedy. I have to check that out.

And I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at your meeting. The control freak, know it all in me loves to see folks get taken down a notch or two.

i'm glad you called him on that shit. i have a few movies i plan on seeing. borat is one of them. i'm going to start dating myself again. i wonder if i'll get lucky afterwards? LOL

I love it, sounds like some ish I'd say. I love the way you can play with words, just don't try to PLAY with me!

Movies - My brother took me to see Departed. Whew...good movie. You don't go much, I have over 400 DVD's at home...what does that say about me being able to actually GO to the movies?? Too much damn work.

@MizJJ
His job is to defend stupid behavior, regardless if he agrees with it or not. That's kind of my job, too. I was on the good side this time.

Borat is not for the squeamish, trust me.

@Sixy
When I used to work for the City of Detroit, only real job threatening shit came before the union grievance people. These muthafuckas complain about everything. "My caviar is too salty!" Fuck 'em.

@Aqua
I ain't dating. I hope me saying I've been going to the movies doesn't give you the impression that I have a life. I've been going solo. And afterwards, I get lucky every time!

I loved the Departed! It took me a minute, because the end was swift, but I loved it. As a matter of fact, I'm going to see it again this weekend.

I'm going to the movies on Thursday (cause I am off all day). Yeah I'm going alone...I've been doing more ofthat as of late but I actually don't mind. I love going on dates with myself...I might even treat myself to a manicure and pedicure...why not!

Borat!! yeah my boy was just talking about it but for some reason I don't find that Ali-G dude to be funny. Perhaps I'll catch it when it is on video.

I think I wanna go see Babel although I have no clue what it's about they made the trailer look HOTT though...and Denzel's joint drops on Friday too I think...maybe I'll see 2 movies!

I saw when they were filming some of "Departed" across the street from my building. I want to see it on DVD so that when it gets to the scary violent torture parts (which all Scorsese films have) I can fast forward! The eleven o'clock news is scary enough without seeing fictional torture on a big screen for "entertainment" LOL!

Anyway, I only have semantics when I write or sing...While talking, I usually get tongue-tied ?!??!

BZ said...

Oh good! I wanted to see Borat and now I don't feel so alone. I love Da Ali G show (funny how that's my name, too. LOL). Dude has some mega-cojones!

But, calling someone an idiot and saying they're acting idiotic is not the same thing. The idiotic behavior could be out of the norm for them. Psychologically, you separate the person from the action because: the person isn't bad -- the out-of-character behavior is (child behavior modification, lol). Maybe poor choice of words, but not necessarily incorrect. :-P *says the semantics queen to the semantics king*

A woman at the movies alone: taking some time away for herself.
A man at the movies alone: loser.

I'll be seeing Babel as soon as it's in my area.

@Chezniki
The Departed is good. Expect to be called a "nigger".

Thanks for the milk tip!

@BZ
If you tell an irate person that an assertion they're making is idiotic, all they're hearing is "he's calling me an idiot". In customer service situations, classifying a customer's behavior using ANY word, is a no-no.

Word.

This is what Pops calls 'moving through'. It's supposed to lead to something. Some self discovery stuff he rambles on about, I don't know.

BZ said...

I feel you, KZ. I guess that's why I can't deal w/ customer service. Unlike MOP, I have no faith in the general public. Most people are just f*cking stupid. lmao!

so you're proficient in the use of semantics huh? do tell, do tell. parenthetically, i do not consider myself garrulous in vernacular, however, i am quite the deipnosophist when quintessential... ;-)

aquababie said...

i don't mind going places by myself. i will go eat by myself in a minute. i don't have folk rushing me and i can take my sweet time. i've just been so tied up with stuff, the movies haven't been option.

Yes it's a telltale sign that winter is coming.

@Blah
Depends on your hands and feet, I reckon.

@Hassan
Self-discovery? Never heard of it.

@BZ
And there you have it! Nuance is lost on people in general. That's why I hate election season.

@BTB
Hunh?
*mydictionary'sbroken*

@Aqua
Tied up? hehehe

@Honest
Maybe it's winter. But I never went to the movies in the many winters before. My average movie attendance has been around 2 movies a year for a long time now.
